Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of characters who will separate from the main group to embark on their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to kill the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as important members in the powerful family could enable the group reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.
